Comment: One of the two mammals known to lay eggs. This is the Echidna, a form of ant-eater and this is the egg-laying mammal that isn't venomous. The Duck-billed Platypus is the other, which is the only known mammal to be venomous. The male Duck-billed Platypus has venomous claws in its hind legs to defend it's mate against other males and predators.
